Rosi is a batik artist, teacher, lecturer and author. Born in Edinburgh, Scotland, she has been Head of Art for 25 years in a private school in Sussex, UK, but spends every summer in Chester. Her grandmother, was born in Chester - that's why Rosi feels Nova Scotia is in her blood. She hopes to spend more time in Chester once she retires, possibly next year. Rosi is an internationally renowned figurative batik artist and has written three books on the subject. She has exhibited in China, Japan, Indonesia, Germany, Belgium, UK and USA. Her travels have influenced and inspired her subject matter - which ranges from sea and landscapes. boats and reflections, flora and fauna to sporting scenes. Wax, dyes, fabric and paper are the essential ingredients of batik. But what Rosi has tried to capture in her paintings over the last forty years, is the magical and beautiful quality of the technique.
